Hello! My name is Isabel ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ

Thanks for stopping by!

Iโ€™m certified in Rolfing Structural Integration, practice Chinese Abdominal Massage, and am a bodywork / movement enthusiast. Having been a college volleyball athlete, I understand the importance of having a body that is resilient, pain free, and capable of providing what you demand of it throughout physical pursuits, and bodywork is one of the most powerful supplemental therapies Iโ€™ve found to keep health and performance at its peak. I first discovered the therapeutic potential of bodywork when I was 16 years old, after seeking sports massage therapy to help with a chronic back injury. Working with sports massage did not only relieve my back pain, but also unexpectedly helped improve chronic insomnia issues, as well as generalized anxiety. This experience was the first to show me the intimate connection between our minds and bodies, how essential it is for them to be coherent with one another, and the potential for bodywork to restore this connection when itโ€™s been diminished.

At Pomona College, I majored in Religious Studies with a focus in contemplative practices. My senior thesis focused on the mind-body connection of trauma by comparing neuroscientific and psycho-spiritual perspectives on the subject. My research centered on the work of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (The Body Keeps the Score), Donald Kalsched (Trauma and the Soul), and many of Carl Jungโ€™s works. This project further illuminated the holistic therapeutic benefits of bodywork, and its potential to help with a wide range of physical, psychological, and psychosomatic disorders (you can read my thesis below).

The goal of The OneSoma System is to make bodywork more widely accessible by bringing outside of solely professional settings, and into homes and other casual settings so more can experience its physical, social, and psychological benefits. Bodywork is too powerful of a therapy, for so few to have access to it. With OneSoma Partner Bodywork, this is on its way to changing. In the words of Robert Noah Calvert, "Soft-tissue manipulation is no doubt one of the oldest forms of therapy, practiced for its health benefits and fulfilling our essential human need for connection with others. [Bodywork] is a universal practice crossing all borders and boundaries; it does not belong exclusively to any one profession, or even to one tradition. Massage is a shared human experience."
